Meet the Owner

I'm Matthew Bestard, a software engineer who spent years building products for companies before deciding I wanted to build something of my own — something with a direct, visible benefit to real neighbors. That desire to do something more tangible and personal is what eventually led me here, to this community, doing this work.

How It Started

It started the way a lot of good ideas do — just doing something useful for family. When relatives needed to travel or get away for a few days, I started watching their homes and pets for them. I was already someone they trusted, I was local, and I took it seriously. At some point it struck me that this was something I could build into a real business — that there were plenty of people in this area who needed exactly this kind of help and had a hard time finding someone they could actually rely on.

My Experience

My experience didn't start at full engagements. It built up gradually the way real experience does — a 30-minute check-in here, a few hours the next time, then an overnight stay, then watching a home for a full week while the owners were on vacation. Along the way I've handled everything that comes with it: feeding and walking pets, collecting mail, making sure everything in the house is as it should be, and keeping owners updated throughout.

I've personally cared for dogs across the size spectrum — large breeds like Great Danes and Black Labs, as well as smaller dogs — along with cats and other pets. I've also cared for pets that came home from the vet after surgery, which requires extra patience, attentiveness, and a calm presence. Each situation is different, and I've learned to read what each animal and each household needs.
